Sort Money

Privacy policy

Effective 19 October 2026

In short. Sort Money reads the payment alerts in your SMS inbox, on your phone, and turns them into a picture of your spending that stays on your phone. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising, and the app does not have permission to use the internet. We never see your messages or your money.

Who we are

Sort Money is an Android app made by Aditya Singh, an independent developer in India. In this policy “we” means Aditya Singh. For any question about privacy, write to [email protected].

What the app reads, and why

With your permission (Android's Read SMS and Receive SMS permissions), Sort Money reads messages in your SMS inbox from the last 120 days, and new messages as they arrive. This is the app's core function: your bank, card and UPI apps send a text for every payment, and those texts are how Sort Money knows what you spent. Without this permission the app cannot work.

What the app stores on your phone

All of this is kept in the app's private storage on your phone, which Android keeps separate from other apps. It is not included in Android's automatic cloud backup. Uninstalling the app deletes it.

What leaves your phone

Nothing, unless you choose to move it. The app does not have Android's internet permission, so it cannot send anything anywhere. There are two ways you can take your data out yourself:

If you save either file to a cloud service, that service's privacy policy applies to the file.

What we collect

Nothing. Sort Money has no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no advertising ID and no account. It does not access your location, contacts, photos or anything other than SMS. Because we don't receive your data, we don't share it or sell it.

Your choices

Children

Sort Money is meant for adults managing their own money. It is not directed at children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
